TORONTO, April 19, 2023 – Ontario Racing has released its Annual Business Plan (ABP) for the 2024 Fiscal Year beginning on April 1, 2023.
Ontario Racing Management staff develop the ABP with input and approval from the Ontario Racing Board. Member Racetracks submit content, and the ABP is approved by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) as per the Amended and Restated Funding Agreement for Live Horse Racing.
“The ABP is the organization’s guiding document for the next 12 months,” said Ontario Racing Independent Chair Andrew Gaughan. “It contains the continuation of initiatives outlined in our three-year strategic plan, and exciting new projects that will drive the Ontario horse racing industry forward as we continue to be a world leading racing jurisdiction.”
The ABP outlines Operational Objectives and Key Initiatives for Ontario Racing, Member Racetrack Goals and Objectives, and provides Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track industry success over the next 12 months.
Ontario Racing’s Key Initiatives this year include a Board Effectiveness Survey, Relief Program Audits, Industry Wide Summits, Implementation of a Responsible Gambling Training Plan, Review of Financial Processes, Increasing the Ownership Base, and Biosecurity.
“I encourage all horsepeople to review the Annual Business Plan,” said Ontario Racing Board Member and General Manager at Clinton Raceway Ian Fleming. “All the information is available about what Ontario Racing is doing for the industry and how purse money is being spent.”
