Outlaw C My Shadow (Shadow Play) extended a two-race winning streak he took into the offseason with an up-front harness racing victory in his first start of 2023 at Fraser Downs on Friday (Feb. 3).
The six-year-old paced every step on top, setting a tempo of :27.2, :57.1, 1:25.2, and 1:54.1 for John Abbott. He opened up while heading into the stretch and was a length-and-three-quarters the best. Armycaptin Hanover (Kelly Hoerdt), an 11-time Open winner last year, finished second. Joe Dimagio (Dave Hudon), who won the Robert Murphy Memorial final in November, was third.

Outlaw C My Shadow is now 13-for-83 lifetime. The six-year-old has raked in $140,322 for Outlaw West Stable of Falun. Constance Kolthammer conditions the gelding.
Lets Tie One On, whom Joe Dimagio edged out in the Robert Murphy Memorial, also kicked off his 2023 season with a win on the card. The stallion earned his 11th career victory as he went from seventh to first in 1:55.3. The four-year-old, one of Western Canadaās most prominent stakes contenders last year, is an 11-time winner in 28 starts and has earned $173,133. Kelly Hoerdt drives, trains, and co-owns the horse with Derek Gilbert of Brandon.
LETS TIE ONE ON REPLAY
Hoerdt responded to an opening night grand slam by Scott Knight with one of his own. The former scored four on Friday as Knight made one trip to the winnerās circle.
Fraser Downs will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 9.
