CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Outrageous Song (Sportswriter) and harness racing driver Corey MacPherson will look for Red Shores Pace glory on the final program of the Winter Meet at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 12-dash presentation starting at 12:30 P.M., with the Red Shores Pace carded as race 3.
MacPherson will drive the Jackie Matheson trainee from post 6 in the $2,350 event for owner Shirley Weeks of Fredericton. The seven-year-old was a five-time winner in 2024 and will look for her first victory of the new season.
Carnival Heart (To be driven by Ryan Desroche) has rail control for trainer Shayna Toll as the 3-1 second-choice in the morning line and she has been winless since January of 2023.
Funneigh (Marc Campbell) is another top choice from the Blaine McKenna barn with post 7. Also in the field are Greystone Shad O (Norris Rogers), Twin B Solitaire (Steven Murphy), Last Chance (Myles Heffernan Sr.) and Elm Grove Nanci (Ken Murphy).
The Post Time Picks go with Carnival Heart on top.
“Carnival Heart was blocked in the stretch last week but still raced well to finish fifth. She finally gets some post relief so I’m using her as my value play of the day.”
The $4,200 feature in race 4 has Merigo Magic looking for his third straight win for Red Shores Charlottetown leading driver Adam Merner, who also trains the son of Tobago Cays for owners Mike May, Herman McQuaid, Derrick Cameron and Ian Walker. Other top entries include Tobins Chester (Jason Hughes) and Tony Too Tall (Heffernan).
The hottest horse on the Eastern Seaboard, Dusty Lane Zoro (Donald MacNeill) is favoured in the race 12 finale with post 5 for trainer Ron Gass and owner Alexis Gass. His top rivals are slated as Three Trick Gainer (Campbell) from post 7 and Elory Shiner (Brady Sweet) with post 8.
