CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The oldest Standardbred Stakes race in Canada will again take to the harness racing track on Thursday evening (Sept. 7) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has 13-dashes on Thursday featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for two and three-year-old trotters.
The first division is in race 2 with the three-year-old trot fillies competing for $11,570. Camco Erin (My Mvp) is the morning line favourite off the rail for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan and owner Blue Diamond Racing of Emyvale. The filly is a one-time winner so far in 2023 from seven starts.
Dynamical Tad (Tad The Stud) will look to double up in race 4 in a $11,670 P.E.I. Colt Stakes three-year-old trot colt race from post 1 for driver Kenny Arsenault, trainer Vaughan Doyle and owners Gary Ford and Bill Kinney. The colt was a winner his last start in a division of the Lady Slipper stake.
The $12,200 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trot filly division in race 6 has Oceanview Daisy (El Rocket) installed as the top choice from post 2 with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Hardcore Racing of Belfast. The rookie has three wins from five lifetime starts.
The final P.E.I. Colt Stakes division is in race 9 for a $12,200 with a field of seven two-year-old trotting colts. Rocket Blast (El Rocket) gets top billing with rail control for driver Corey MacPherson and owner-trainer Carl Bagnall. The two-year-old has captured both of his last two starts.
