Travis Henry mobilized him out of post three to take the lead, racing to the quarter in :28.2. He received company as It Takes Two (Lorne House) left the rail as the field swung towards the stands, and he stuck with the leader through middle fractions of :59 and 1:28.

P L Oliver maintained his lead around the final turn and was first into the lane. It Takes Two continued to chip away, and Drinkin Buddy (Samuel Fillion) took aim off his cover, but P L Oliver resisted them both and prevailed by a length-and-a-quarter in 1:58.4.

It Takes Two held second over the rallying Drinkin Buddy.

P L OLIVER REPLAY

P L Oliver, a frequent competitor at the B-track Preferred level over the last two years, changed hands for the first time after a claim on Nov. 27. Alan Janik and Sally Charlton acquired gelding, who had raced his whole career to that point for trainer Matt Dupuis. Lindsey Kerr now trains the seven-year-old, who is 26-for-137 lifetime with $260,708 in earnings.

Tyler Borth was the night’s top driver with four wins.

The Raceway at the Western Fair District will kick off its next card on Wednesday, Jan. 15 with a Fillies and Mares Preferred at 5:50 p.m. EST.
