Patriarch Hanover (Father Patrick) stepped up to face top conditioned-level harness racing foes on Monday (Jan. 16) at Woodbine Mohawk Park and took his first win of the season.
Doug McNair piloted the Richard Moreau trainee to victory in the short field, which was down to four in contention by the quarter. The horses maintained single-file formation until rounding into the stretch. McNair kept Patriarch Hanover on the pylons, and the stallion sprinted past pacesetter Warrior One (Sylvain Filion) in the closing stages to score in 1:53.4. Pikachu Hanover (Louis-Philippe Roy) finished third.
