Longshot Pembrook Legacy N held on narrowly after leading his seven harness racing rivals all the way in the Preferred 2 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday (May 17).
He rocketed away from post six for driver Lorne House to beat his five inside opponents to the front. The former New Zealand import completed the first quarter mile in :27.1 and half in :56, and the gelding paced to three-quarters as the outside flow treaded water.
House gave the son of Bettors Delight the high lines entering the home turn as Clever Character (Travis Cullen) threatened to pop the pocket and Yacht Seelster (Tyler Moore) rallied three-wide. Pembrook Legacy N maintained his advantage until the pair of rivals surged in the final 1/16th and kept his head in front for a career-best 1:53.3 victory – his second in a row.
Yacht Seelster, the longest shot on the board, was second in the photo. Clever Character was a length behind in third. The win price was $31.20, and the top two combined for a $606.40 exactor.
PEMBROOK LEGACY N REPLAY
House also trains Pembrook Legacy N for Samuel Taylor of Lucan. Taylor shipped the nine-year-old in from New Zealand in February 2020, and the horse has won 11 times since. The gelding is now a 13-time winner in 54 career outings and has made $105,838.
Pembrook Legacy N made the nights of two bettors, who each hit the pick five for $35,424.83. According to announcer Shannon āSugarā Doyle, it was the highest pick five payoff in track history.
Catch An Ace surpassed $300,000 in earnings as she captured the sub-featured Fillies and Mares Preferred 2&3 Handicap Pace. She popped the pocket on the far turn for Austin Sorrie and kicked away to win by a length in 1:55.2 over Saulsbrook Jessie (Brett MacDonald). Kickin Cowgirl (Scott Young) took show.

Another Bettors Delight offspring, the seven-year-old mare is now 21-for-114 lifetime with a bankroll of $302,559. Rachel Andrew owns and trains her.
