Pikachu Hanover (Andover Hall) knocked out his harness racing rivals in the Monday night (May 23) Free-for-All at Woodbine Mohawk Park that sported a beefed-up purse of $58,500.
The eight-year-old stallion bolted to the front for Louis-Philippe Roy before hitting the first turn and trotted to the quarter in :27.3. Pemberton (James MacDonald, making his second start off a two-year layoff, launched first-up as they approached the midway point in :56.3 and made swift gains on the leader.
Roy let Pikachu Hanover take off as they turned for home with Pemberton looming a length behind, but that foe broke stride at three-quarters in 1:24.3. Pikachu Hanover then thundered home to secure a three-quarter-length win in 1:52.1 at 15-1.
Patriarch Hanover (Doug McNair) and Dream Nation (Scott Young) completed a longshot top three as they finished second and third at 27-1 and 33-1 odds respectively. The triactor returned $313.91 for $0.20.
