Poseidon Seelster (Sunshine Beach) powered to victory with a stretch surge in the $36,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Nov. 11).
He sat third for Bob McClure as Bee Two Bee (Travis Cullen) pushed out from post nine to take the lead at the quarter in :26.1. There was little movement to the half in :54.3, and no one could advance to three-quarters in 1:22 with Camara Moment (Doug McNair) plugging up the outside flow.
Poseidon Seelster and pocket-sitter Points North (Sylvain Filion) fanned out to chase the leader as they entered the stretch, and both closed down Bee Two Bee. The latter dropped out in mid-stretch, leaving Poseidon Seelster and Points North to battle for the win. Poseidon Seelster pulled past his rival in the final eighth of a mile and went on to win by a length in 1:49.
Points North finished second. Livinthebeachlife (Jonathan Drury) was the best of the rest.
POSEIDON SEELSTER REPLAY
Poseidon Seelsterās win was his third of the season and second at in the top overnight ranks. Co-owner Donald Linsdey trains the gelding, now a 15-time winner in 83 career starts with $559,170 in earnings. Paul Kleinpaste of Orangeville, William Alempijevic of Brooklyn, and Garth Bechtel of Meaford share ownership of the six-year-old.
Also on the card, three-year-old colts and geldings of both gaits contested the first leg of their Ontario-sired Harvest Series.
Nothingbutadreamer (Muscle Mass, James MacDonald) held off Ricardo (Doug McNair) in a stretch duel to take the first division for trotters in 1:53.4. Cactustotheclouds (Trevor Henry) was third. The gelding, who has now won four straight including the Pop-Up Series final, is now nine-for-26 lifetime with $136,943 in earnings for The Stableās Nothingbutadreamer Group. Harry Poulton conditions the sophomore gelding.

Stonebridge Bomber (Muscle Mass, McNair) scored in the second division with a powerful third-quarter brush. He beat Century Jaguar (Henry) by three-quarters-of-a-length in 1:54.3 with Prince Archie (Steve Hudon) third. It was his first win for new connections Gordon Mason of Rosseau and trainer Aaron Byron of Thornton. The three-year-old gelding has now won four of his 23 career starts and has built a bankroll of $71,944.

Leave It To Luther (Betterthancheddar, MacDonald) lowered his lifetime mark in the first division for trotters, firing from sixth to first down the lane to score in 1:53.4. The Ryan Steward-trained the colt nabbed Bar Down Jim (Cullen) by a neck, who was a length-and-a-quarter from show finisher Sans Souci (Michael Whelan). Leave It To Luther has now tallied eight victories in 22 career outings with $47,341 in earnings for owner Courtney Pollard. Ryan Steward trains the colt.

Full Horse (Bettors Delight, Louis-Philippe Roy) snagged his first win off the shelf in a career-best performance in the second split. The gelding, campaigned by Determination and Luc Blais, went first-up on the final turn, took over in the stretch, and held off the closing Cheddar Duharas (Tyler Borth) for a 1:53.1 win. Arizona Jackson (Drury) held third after leading through the middle-half. Full Horse spent nearly four months laid up between July and November and came back with a place finish a week prior. He is now three-for-15 lifetime with $42,362 in the back.

MacDonald recorded a grand slam on the night to extend his lead in the national standings to six wins.
