Power And Grace (Holiday Road) won her fourth consecutive race on Tuesday (Jul. 24) at Grand River Raceway in a dominant harness racing victory.
The mare did it in identical fashion to her past three wins. Brett MacDonald directed her straight to the lead, and she had the race in hand through :27.2, :57.2, and 1:26.1 panels. Serenity Cruise (Samuel Fillion) attempted a rally, but Power And Grace drew off to a three-and-a-half-length win in 1:56.2. Serenity Cruise proved second-best. The Fixer (Garrett Rooney) finished third.
POWER AND GRACE REPLAY
The win was Power And Graceās 51st in her 162-start career. She has earned $451,544. Ronald MacDonald trains the eight-year-old for Hartel Maintenance of Guelph, Lormer McClure of Hanover, Brett MacDonald of Freelton, and Reg Higgs of Strathroy.
Also on the card, Chris Rogers recorded his first driving win in more than two decades. His trainee, Zebs Breaking Dawn (Hes Watching), produced a tremendous effort to help him do it. The mare was parked from the start and drove on for Rogers, advancing past the field to take the lead nearing three-quarters. She continued at top speed, leaving the field behind and soaring clear by nine lengths to break her maiden in 1:58.2.
ZEBS BREAKING DAWN / CHRIS ROGERS REPLAY
Rogersās last driving win came in 2002 at Port Perry Downs behind Cowboys N Indians. He made six starts in 2003 and did not drive again until 2022. The mare was previously winless in 13 outings and has hit the board twice. Rogers also trained his first winner since 2002 last year with Music Box Noise.
