This is the first Sunday race card at the Hippodrome 3R since early July that there are no stakes races. Instead, there are some great match-ups of horses that are prepping for the rich finals Sunday, September 12.
On Super Sunday, H3R will host all eight of the Quebec-Bred finals for two and three-year-old trotters and pacers. Each of the Breeders Trophy Series for the three-year-olds race for a purse of $60,000 and the two-year-olds in the Future Stars Series Finals race for a purse of $50,000.
In the very first race there is Mach N Blue Cheez (post 6). This three-year-old filly is coming off a 2:01 triumph last week for driver Pascal Berube and they will be going against Clear The Credit (post 5). She has not fared well as of late for driver Jonathan Lachance.
The classic match-up of the day takes place in the fourth race where the top three-year-old trotting filly, X O X O, goes from post one for owner-breeder-driver Jerome Lombart. The daughter of Angus Hall last week scored a lifetime best 2:00 triumph, her seventh win of the year.
X O X O will be facing none other than Hall Win, the top colt in the Breeders Trophy Series. Also sired by Angus Hall, Hall Win sports five wins in eight starts for trainer-driver Kevin Maguire and has a record of 1:59.3. He has won three of his last five starts.
Mag N Lady vs Wishful Glide in the 7th race. Again it is the filly against the colt. Mag N Lady (post 1) is the track record holder and Quebec Champion from last year but is still winless in three tries this year. Wishful Glide (post 5) has not fared well this season.
CL Sportsextreme (Sportswriter) is in the 8th race Preferred-Handicap Pace for the mares and the lone filly against older competition will have it rough for driver Jonathan Lachance, but the race should have her tight for next weekās final.
Super FM vs P’titebouledechafra at the 9th race. Neither seems to be of the caliber of Cadillac Bayama for the final. However, the two aspire to a good check on September 12 and it will be interesting to see them compete against each other.
YS Do It Right is in the 11th race in post nine. He was the colt champion last year and has been gradually recovering from some tough miles this season. He is coming off a 1:56 triumph in his last start. He must absolutely defeat this group to say he is a serious contender for Cadillac Bayama.
As the Quebec government has prescribed: fans who will show up Sunday at H3R must provide proof of vaccination, VaxiCode or other documents to be admitted to the racetrack. This has been the case since Wednesday, September 1. This is true for employees as well as the horse people.
Post time on Sunday at H3R is 12:10 pm. For a free race program, visit www.hippodrome3r.ca.
