Outlaw Allie Oops (Blue Burner) romped to her fifth victory in six starts as she rose to the Fillies and Mares Preferred ranks at Century Mile on Saturday (Jan. 20).
The mare took the lead with a long brush from fifth after the quarter of :29.2. Driver Phil Giesbrecht commanded a tempo of :58.1 and 1:27 through the middle half with the outer flow doing little to threaten.
Outlaw Allie Oops was on top by two as they straightened into the lane and stretched the advantage to three by mid-stretch. Jakara (Brandon Campbell) finished best of the rest, but she couldnāt touch Outlaw Allie Oops who raced four-and-three-quarter lengths clear to victory in 1:55.
Jakara was second over Sunshineatthebeach (Jamie Gray).
OUTLAW ALLIE OOPS REPLAY
The mare was claimed in three straight starts, all in low-level claimers, in December. In her three outings since for trainer Travis Ellis, she has stepped up in class every week to reach the top overnight level. The eight-year-old is now 25-for-101 lifetime with $123,718 in earnings. Trevor Williams co-owns her with Timothy Gordon of Spruce Grove.
Ellis recorded a triple on the night, also winning with Tuff As Buff (Sunshine Beach, Michael Hennessy, 1:57.4) and Iknowyouknow (Sportswriter, Hennessy, 2:01.3).
The next card at Century Mile on Saturday, Jan. 27 will be the penultimate program of the meet.
