R Royal Port (Archangel) won for the third time in his past four Flamboro Downs Preferred starts with a wire-to-wire harness racing performance on a snowy Saturday (Nov. 30).
Travis Henry implemented the geldingās usual strategy, ordering gate speed, but he was looped by Insanity (Colin Kelly) on the first turn. R Royal Port quickly quarter-poled and brought the field through :28.2, :58.3, and 1:27.1 splits, hurried through the back half by the first-over Boomandbust (Todd Ratchford).
R Royal Port edged away from Boomandbust at the top of the lane, only to be put under siege by Insanity from the pocket. That rival made headway but was ultimately stymied as R Royal Port completed the victory with three-quarters-of-a-length to spare in 1:57.2.
Insanity finished second with Boomandbust third.
