Raising Rusty (Kadabra) ended a 13-race losing streak in a front-stepping harness racing victory in the Preferred Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Sep. 15).

The gelding repelled Fit Bitt (Michel Lagace) for the lead in a :28.3 first panel and cruised to the half in :58.2 under the guidance of Stephane Pouliot. Crossfit (Jimmy Gagnon) attacked on the road to three-quarters in 1:27.1 and hounded the leader on the final turn.

Crossfit ate into the lead all the way to the line, but Raising Rusty maintained a half-length gap as he stopped the clock a winner in 1:56.1.

Fit Bitt finished third.

RAISING RUSTY REPLAY

Raising Rusty has now won 19 times and earned $114,159 for Pouliot, who trains the gelding and owns him through a numbered company. Pouliot has been aboard and the trainer of record for all of the five-year-old’s 90 career starts.

Rideau Carleton Raceway will resume racing on Sunday, Sep. 18 at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
