The second tier proved no problem for Raising Rusty (Kadabra), who surprised at 7-1 as he won the second of his past three harness racing starts on Thursday (Sep. 29) at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Stephane Pouliot placed the gelding in lane two and rushed forward into the three-hole. Capteur De Reve (Stephane Brosseau) showed the way through :27.3 and :57.4 opening panels.
Pouliot pulled the trigger as the field spun onto the backstretch, and Raising Rusty collared the leader before hitting three-quarters in 1:27. He then cracked open a big lead turning for home and found the line time to deny a closing Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd) in 1:55.4.
The latter was a half-length short. Crossfit (Jimmy Gagnon) finished third.
