CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – First-over and surging at the wire, Outrageous Style (Hes Watching) was crowned harness racing champion in the inaugural P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Mares Final Thursday (Sept. 21) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

David Dowling drove Outrageous Style

David Dowling was in the race bike for the 1:57.2 score over pacesetter Maggiedelight (Driven by Corey MacPherson) in the $9,500 final, presented by JD Marine and Diving Inc., and the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeder’s Association. Ron Matheson trains the winning mare for owner-breeder Paul Holmes of Warren Grove. Third was claimed by Glenview Rhonda (Dale Spence).

Rocket Blast (EL Rocket) rewarded his backers in the Brian Andrew Memorial colt division for two-year-old trotters with a 2:06.2 open-length victory with MacPherson aboard for owner-trainer Carl Bagnall. The $11,175 dash saw Howmac Swanky (Mike McGuigan) second ahead of Countyline Babe (Myles Heffernan Sr.).

Trainer-driver McGuigan was on top at the wire in the $11,175 Brian Andrew Memorial trotting filly division in a half-length decision in 2:04.1 over favoured Dusty Lane Wee (Dowling). Third went to Oceanview Daisy (Ken Murphy). Jamie Whalen of Avondale holds the ownership papers.

Jason Hughes had a driving triple on the card to take sole control of the driving standings at the Capital Oval.
