CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Bee Two Bee (Sunshine Beach) kicked cleared by open lengths and kept on driving in the Reliable Motors – Richard Campbell Memorial as he tied the overall track record Saturday (Sep. 9) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Jason Hughes came first-over with his trainee in the $7,500 Reliable Motors – Richard Campbell Memorial as the final dash of a 30-race day on Super-Saturday at the Capital oval. Bee Two Bee wore down 27.1 and 55 second pacesetter Repeal Or Replace (Driven by Myles Heffernan Sr.) in the Invitational dash and took the lead past the three-quarters of 1:23.2.
Repeal Or Replace would make a break in the final turn to interfere with a number of horses but Bee Two Bee was already gone as he kicked home in 26.4 to tie Ys Lotus and Sintra’s overall track record of 1:50.1 set in the 2016 Gold Cup and Saucer final. Hughes trains Bee Two Bee for owners Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown.
