CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The ‘Pacing Queen of the East Coast’ will partner with the ‘King Of Island Racing’ and take dead aim at the top spot in the Thursday evening (Jun. 22) harness racing feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has 12-dashes starting at 6 P.M. including the $3,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred in race 11.
Dreamfair Zenfire (Sunfire Blue Chip) is the morning line favourite with trainer and Red Shores Charlottetown leading driver Marc Campbell in the race bike from post 3 for owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. The mare has been exceptional every season since joining the Campbell stable and was a winner her last start in 1:55 flat. The track record holding pacer sports 50 lifetime victories.
Acefortyfour Dome will push the issue from the rail for trainer-driver Jason Hughes with last week’s runner-up Atlantic Star leaving from post 2 for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan.
Plain Jane also hails from the Campbell stable and has post 4 with Corey MacPherson picking up the catch drive. Ubettimagoodone was a convincing winner her last start at Red Shores Summerside and moves to the Fillies and Mares Preferred level with post 5 from the Jeff Lilley stable with Gilles Barrieau listed to drive.
Rounding out the field is post 6 entry and former track record holder Ladylike from the red hot Jennifer Doyle barn for driver David Dowling.
The Post Time Pick’s will side with Acefortyfour Dome from post 1.
“Acefortyfour Dome demanded the lead last week and led for a long way before settling for the bronze. We’re thinking Hughes will be aggressive from the get-go only this time she fires and goes wire to wire.”
Race 7 is the Hillside Chevrolet Drive For Home Series pace and Georgia Thompson is the top pick from post 2 for driver Adam Merner and owner-trainer Melissa Rennie of Charlottetown.
The Future Stars Of Island Racing will headline a special qualifying session on Friday evening (Jun. 23) starting at 5:30 P.M. The program will host 12-dashes of two-year-old qualifiers as the young horses prep for the coming stakes season.
