SUMMERSIDE, PE – P.E.I. will host its first Atlantic Sires Stakes event of the season on Friday (July 19) evening as part of Governor’s Plate Week racing at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Prince County oval has a 13-dash presentation starting at 6 P.M. on Friday evening with $17,980 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies in races 10 and 12.
The first division in race 10 will see Chip Of Evil (Arthur Blue Chip) as the morning line favourite with post 6 in the $17,980 event. Corey MacPherson drives the Eddy Doucette trainee for owner Inarush Stable of Kensington. The sophomore filly sits at $95,910 in lifetime earnings as she seeks to boost her bankroll over the $100,000 mark in Friday’s race.
Windemere Saddy (To be driven by Marc Campbell) has rail control at 7-2 morning line odds with Dusty Lane Dixie (Gilles Barrieau) is a top entry from post 7.
Goodmorning Nova (Arthur Blue Chip) and driver Jason Hughe are the favourite in the second $17,98- A-split in race 12 from the Ashley Gamester barn for owners Melissa Banks and Jason Williams. The filly rides a three-race win streak into the event with post 6 on Friday. Fern Hill Indigo (Brodie MacPhee) was a runner-up in her last three races and has post 4 this time while Galway Girl (Campbell) is another top entry with rail control.
The program has $6,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes B-divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies in races 3, 6 and 8.
The $7,500 Andrew Perry Memorial trot heads to the gate in race 11. Reigning Open trot champion Jessiejesorjessica is shouldered with post 6 in the event with David Dowling listed to drive for trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Danny Birt.
The Bud Ramsay Memorial is carded as race 7. Redland Peaches is the top selection from post 7 for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan and owners Mark MacDonald, Josh MacDonald, Gordon Coles and Ingham Jenkins.
Race 13 is the Medastar Memorial which sees Moonwriter the favourite for trainer-driver Keith Ford and owner Debbie Element with post 2.
