CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With her Atlantic Stakes harness racing career in the rearview mirror, Maggiesdelight (Steelhead Hanover) will try to capture all the glory in the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Mares Final Thursday evening (Sept. 21) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 14-dash program kicks off at 6 P.M., with the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Mares Final, presented by JD Marine and Diving Inc., and the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeders Association in race 8 for a $9,500 purse.
Corey MacPherson drives the favoured Maggiesdelight from post 2 for co-owner and trainer Michelle Myers and co-owner Roger MacDonald. The five-year-old has banked $52,883 in her career while winning 15 dashes. Other top entries include Havarti (To be driven by Paul Langille) from post 3 and Outrageous Style (David Dowling) with post 6.
The Post Time Picks place Maggiedelight in the win column.
“Maggiesdelight was third best in this group her last start in this series but had the far outside that day. She gets a solid post draw for the final and will be able to defend her post from the start in here. If the fractions are right, victory will be hers.”
The evening card also features the Brian Andrew Memorial Stake for two-year-old trotters in races 2 and 6. Atlantic record holder Dusty Lane Wee (Dowling) is the favourite off the rail in the $11,175 filly division in race 6 from the Lenny Myers barn.
Rocket Blast (MacPherson) rides a three-race win streak into race 2 for a $11,175 pot in the two-year-old colt event from the Carl Bagnall barn.
