SUMMERSIDE, PE – A pair of top-notch female pacers will take on Prince County’s best in the Tuesday evening (Sept. 12) harness racing feature at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway.
The Western oval has 14-dashes starting at 6 P.M, with the $3,400 featured pace lining up in race 13.
D Gs Elsa (Shanghai Phil) drops out of the Fillies and Mares Preferred ranks and gets saddled with post 5 in the top event with Ken Murphy picking up the catch drive for trainer Luke Burke and owner Robin Burke of Brackley. The nine-year-old was fourth her last start against some top mares then second the start before in the Birthplace Of Confederation Open Mares consolation.
Three-year-old pacing filly Nannie Bernice (Artspeak) makes the jump to the top class with post 2 from the Janice Hubbard barn with David Dowling in the seat behind her.
Melody Maker (Hes Watching) is the morning line favourite in the dash with post 3 for the team of driver Dale Spence and trainer Greg MacInnis. The gelding has been hot all season in Summerside with seven wins, two seconds and a third on the campaign.
Iron tough campaigner Rusty Riley (To be driven by Paul Langille) has rail control at 4-1 morning line odds while Frontier Cruise (Corey MacPherson) is second-favourite after facing Stash It Away his last start.
The Backstretch Beat thinks Melody Maker will return to the winner’s circle Tuesday.

Race 7 is the City Of Summerside pace with Yaris Seelster (MacPherson) looking for his first win of the season from post 2. The seven-year-old son of Mach Three has four starts so far this season after having 18 months off since racing in Ontario. Michel Langis of New Brunswick trains the 10-time winner for partners Roland Leblanc and Richard Gaudet. His main foes are slated as Heart And Guts (Devon Wallace) and Youremyhearthrob (Dowling).
