CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Tobins Brownie delivered the fastest sophomore filly trip in the storied history of Atlantic Canadian Harness Racing Saturday afternoon in a harness racing blowout at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as part of Gold Cup Week racing.
David Dowling was at the controls of the daughter of Stonebridge Terror as she sprinted to the lead in her $15,460 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division for three-year-old pacing fillies and plowed through splits of 27.4, 57.1 and 1:25.4.
The Dowling trainee then closed out the mile in 28 seconds for a track and Atlantic record mile of 1:53.4 eclipsing the former 1:54.1 best co-owned by Saulsbrook Ocean and Streakazana. She paid $7.50 to win.
Brittany Watts shares ownership of the winning filly with Alex Quinn, Carl Peterson and Amy Lakie. Mystifying (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) had her win streak cut short to finish second while Maggiesdelight (Corey MacPherson) was third.

Elm Grove Penney (Marc Campbell) won the other $15,460 A-split in 1:55.1 over Emmy Lou Hayes (Jason Hughes) and Woodmere Leah (Darren Crowe). Danny Romo trains the winner, also sired by Stonebridge Terror, for owner Ian Banks of Nova Scotia and paid $17.00 to win.

Campbell had four driving wins on the 12-dash card including scores aboard Shiftyn Georgie (1:57.1) from the Jaycob Sweet barn, Zack The Men (1:55.4) for trainer Mike MacDonald and in a $3,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes B-division for three-year-old fillies with Kck Girlies (1:57.2) for trainer Mike McGuigan.
The other B-divisions were won by Fern Hill Fancy (1:57.3) for trainer-driver Barrieau and Slightly Twisted (1:57.1) for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Frank Banks.
The $3,000 Colonel Dan Trot went to Daisy River (Hughes) in 1:56.4 for owner-trainer William Lanigan of Montague.
