CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – A pair of veteran Cornwall horsemen are riding along with Dusty Lane Zoro (Pang Shui) as the pacer looks for his fourth straight victory in the Saturday afternoon harness racing finale at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash Saturday card is the penultimate program of the Winter Meet with a 12:30 P.M., opening post time.
Veteran Donald MacNeill has been active in the driving ranks on Prince Edward Island for six decades and will sit the race bike behind Dusty Lane Zoro from post 4 in the race 13 finale. Alexis Gass owns the gelding, who has been undefeated since coming back to the races in December. Ron Gass, the Master of Dusty Lane Farms who has been active in the harness racing industry since the 1960s, trains the seven-time winner who is installed as the morning line favourite in the $3,100 dash.
Three Tricks Gainer has rail control in the field at 3-1 morning line odds with trainer Saul Lanigan enlisting the services of 15-time dash winning driver Marc Campbell.
Trainer Corey MacPherson, a former student of Dusty Lane Farms, has a pair of entries in the nine-horse field including post 2 starter Evil Vintage (To be driven by Adam Merner) and post 5 entry Mr Rielly (MacPherson).
The Post Time Picks side with Dusty Lane Zoro to get it all.
“To say Dusty Lane Zoro is sharp may be an understatement after he scored a natural hat trick last Saturday. Lines up in a favorable post and Donnie gets along well with him so we’re calling for a Red Shores grand slam.”
The race 12 Preferred Pace has Blood Money (Campbell) the top selection in the $4,600 dash for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey. His foes include Acefortyfour Dome (Mark Bradley), Tony Too Tall (Myles Heffernan Sr.), and graduating 2024 stakes stars Tobins Chester (Jason Hughes) and Merigo Magic (Merner).
