CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – There was no stopping Bugsy Maguire’s (Bettor’s Delight) forward motion in the Saturday evening preferred harness racing pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Leaving from post 1 in the $3,400 preferred pace, Bugsy Maguire (Driven by Adam Merner) insisted on the lead as he released Outkast Blue Chip (Brodie MacPhee) at the opening panel of 27.1 then retook the front heading to the 56 second half-mile station.
Three-quarters were reached in 1:24.4 before the Wade Sorrie trained pacer sprinted away to a six-length win in 1:53.3 for owner Walter Simmons of Summerside. Cowboy Logic (Steven Shepherd) rallied for second with Outkast Blue Chip third.
MacPhee had the hot hands on the evening winning three dashes on the program scoring with Usurper (1:56.1) for trainer Earl Smith, Rollwithhottytoddy (1:57.4) from the Trevor Hicken barn and Willie Brennan (1:57.4) in a 18-1 upset for trainer Jason Hughes.
The Jeff Holmes stable came to play Saturday as Burn Out Hanover demolished his rivals in 1:53.2 in line to driver Brady Sweet and Rose Run Quest was a 1:54 winner for reinsman David Dowling.
