CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – No Plan Intended (Up The Credit) make quick work of his opposition in last week’s feature harness racing event and will set his sights on a Saturday afternoon repeat at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 12-dash program starts with a 12:30 P.M. opening post time and the $3,500 preferred pace heads to the gate in race 11. Jason Hughes will drive No Plan Intended from post 5 from the Jennifer Doyle stable with Doyle co-owning the winner of $254,000 with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. The four-year-old had his biggest seasonal score in the $30,000 Governor’s Plate Final at Red Shores Summerside in July then was a runner-up to Sintra in the $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer final. The 18-time winner is installed as the morning line favourite in the field.
Fern Hill General was second best to No Plan Intended last time out and has post 3 Saturday for driver Brodie MacPhee from the Tom Weatherbie outfit. The Malicious sophomore has banked over $48,000 this season while taking a mark of 1:55 over Charlottetown. 2021 Atlantic Breeders Crown champion Stash It Away leaves from post 4 in the field for driver Corey MacPherson as the Pang Shui pacer recently went over $105,000 in career earnings.
Ubettimagoodone (by Gilles Barrieau) has rail control from the Jeff Lilley barn after finishing third in the $14,517 Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares final on Oct. 17. Navalny (Adam Merner) was a hard closing third in last week’s preferred and has post 2 Saturday.
The Post Time Picks see No Plan Intended as the heavy favourite.
“No Plan Intended zipped off the wings last week and fronted it all the way scoring in a snappy 1:54 flat. We’re betting Hughes will want to boss it from the hop and if that’s the case get ready to see them back in the winner’s circle.”
Race 10 on the card is In Memory Of Jerome Campbell with Acrobat Hanover (Marc Campbell) the top choice as 5-2 morning line odds from post 3 for trainer Lenny Myers, who co-owns with Matty and Liam Myers and Robin Lajeunesse. His top rivals are pegged as Selkirk Echo (Barrieau) off the rail and Sam McKee Hanover (MacPherson) from post 6.
Woodmere Ideal Art Headlines Tough Monday Feature
SUMMERSIDE, PE – A hotly contested Monday evening preferred 2 pace headlines the weekly card at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Western track has a 6 P.M. opening post time for the $3,300 dash with Woodmere Ideal Art (Articulator) the top choice from post 5. Dale Spence gets the catch driving call from the Sifroi Melanson barn for owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B. The former stakes winner is now in his seven-year-old season and has over $104,000 to his career credit along with 33-lifetime wins. He was a runner-up to American Risk in his latest start on closing day at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B., but made it to the winner’s circle the start previous at Red Shores Summerside.
Screen Test (Vertical Horizon) was second to Woodmere Ideal Art in the Oct. 12 Preferred 2 pace then was a winner in his absence last week. Corey MacPherson drives the Ron Gass entry from post 6 this week.
Nogreatmischief loves to finish and has been knocking on the door as he leaves from post 2 Monday for trainer-driver Walter Cheverie. First Glance (Thinking Out Loud) toured the Ontario based Grand River Raceway oval in a snappy 1:54 in September and now returns back to P.E.I., to the Jennifer Doyle barn for this dash. David Dowling will drive the grey from post 3. The hard leaving Burn Out Hanover (Driven by Brady Sweet) has the outside post 7. Also in the field are Dylan Sam (Ken Murphy) and multiple top class winner His Boy Elroy (Jason Hughes).
The Backstretch Beat sides with Woodmere Ideal Art as the lukewarm top choice in the tight knit field.
“Woodmere Ideal Art was a convincing winner his last start for Spence at this same level at this same track. Repeat time?”
Race 7 is the Wendell Wallace Memorial and the Jeff Wallace trained Coasttocoastshark has post 2 in the class as they look for a win close to home. Spence will drive the son of Coastocoast Yankee for owner Shirley Wallace of Alberton. Other top choices are Pictonian Storm (Damian MacLellan) and The Big Chase (MacPherson).
