CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Preferred pacers return to Charlottetown Saturday (Sept. 23) and Rollwithhottytoddy (Rollwithitharry) headlines the featured harness racing event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The city track has 14-dashes getting underway at 6 P.M., with the $3,600 Preferred pace hitting the track in race 13.
Rollwithhottytoddy steps out of the Invitational ranks to take on the Saturday feature as the morning line favourite from the Trevor Hicken barn. Myles Heffernan Sr. is back in the bike from post 4 after Patrick Shepherd drove him to a third-place finish in the Inverness Invitational in Cape Breton last Sunday. The pacer has been victorious four times in 2023 including a 1:52.3 lifetime best taken over Red Shores Charlottetown.
Stash It Away (Pang Shui) will loom the danger from post 5 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Kevin MacLean. The duo teamed up with him for a second-place finish to Twin B Tuffenuff, who is absent in the field, in last week’s Preferred Pace.
Also in the Preferred field are Blood Money (To be driven by Gilles Barrieau), Navalny (Adam Merner), Century Invictus (Jason Hughes) and JK Last Chance (Kenny Arsenault).
The Post Time Picks like Stash It Away to provide a mild Preferred Pace upset.
“Stash It Away was a solid second to Invitational star Twin B Tuffenuff in his latest and has shown in the past that he knows how to win with 19 career victories. He loves to hunt down horses and if there is any kind of tussle at the start he will benefit at the end.”
Race 11 is the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Horses Final, presented by Kays Wholesale and the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeder’s Association. The $9,500 event has Middleton Terror as the morning line choice from post 3 for trainer-driver David Dowling and owners Kingsley Walsh and Frank Balcom. Pictonian I Am (Murphy) is a top entry from post 5 along with Betterthanbutter (Colin Sheppard) with rail control.
