SUMMERSIDE, PE – Trotting forward every step of the mile, Dusty Lane Wee garnered herself a new harness racing track record Sunday afternoon (Oct. 1) during an all-stakes program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
David Dowling was in the bike for trainer Lenny Myers as the daughter of EL Rocket trotted to a new track and Atlantic standard of 2:01.4 for two-year-old trotting fillies in her $14,500 Lady Slipper division. Garry MacDonald of Ontario co-owns the homebred with Ronnie Gass of Cornwall.
Gettin Salty prevailed in her $14,300 Lady Slipper division for three-year-old trot fillies in line to Jason Hughes for owner-trainer Blayne White of South Pinette in 2:03.4.
Oceanview Chip was on top of his $14,300 Lady Slipper three-year-old trot colt division with a 2:02.2 score while the previously undefeated Irish Ray (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) saw his win streak snapped at 17-straight after making a break at the start to get away last and gain ground to finish fourth. Adam Merner was in the driver’s seat of Oceanview Chip for trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Bill Roloson and Joey Aylward.
Rocket Blast kept the winning going as part of a large day for driver Corey MacPherson. The Carl Bagnall trained colt won his $14,500 Lady Slipper two-year-old trot division in 2:02.1 for his fifth straight win.
MacPherson also swept both divisions of the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series, presented by Standardbred Canada, as a catch driver with the Jennifer Doyle trained Chelski in 1:54.2 and the Brent Campbell trained Plain Jane in 1:56.1. MacPherson had five wins on the day as a driver including wins from his own Charlottetown stable with Evil Vintage in 1:57.4 in a $11,900 Grassroots division of the Joe O’Brien Memorial Stake for three-year-old pacing colts and with Rosetown Mary in 1:54.4 in a Lady Slipper Gold division for three-year-old pacing fillies carrying a $18,700 purse for owners Kerry and Emily Taylor, Lisa Richards and Taylor MacPherson.
Driver Hughes had a quadruple on the day as he swept the other two $18,700 Lady Slipper Gold divisions for sophomore fillies with the Stephen Quinn trained Next In Line in 1:56.3 for owner John Quinn and Saulsbrook Abbey in 1:56.4 for trainer Saul Lanigan, who co-owns with Peter and Mark Lanigan. The Stratford reinsman’s other score was in a $9,350 Lady Slipper Grassroots division for three-year-old fillies with Summer Lovin from his own barn.
The husband-wife team of driver Dale Spence and trainer MacKenzie Spence recorded a pair of victories as their own Woodmere Denny was a 1:56.4 victor in his $23,800 O’Brien Gold division for sophomore pacing colts and Comeonprettymomma prevailed in 1:59.1 in a $9,350 Lady Slipper Grassroots division for three-year-old pacing fillies.
Malignity won his ninth-straight in an open-length 1:54.3 victory in his $23,800 O’Brien Gold assignment for three-year-old pacing colts for trainer-driver Paul Langille and owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille.
Live racing continues with a special Tuesday evening program at Red Shores Charlottetown starting at 6 P.M.
