Summerside, PE – September 8, 2021 – This has been a banner year for Red Shores Summerside. The races have been distributed more widely than ever before and it is showing in the harness racing wagering results.
The Governor’s Plate program set a new all-time record handle and that week of festivities was up 30%. Overall, the race meet continues to be strong.
Red Shores management had planned that 2021 was the year to test some operational changes to create some additional success for the historic track celebrating 135 years of racing which has proven to be very successful to date.
The next phase of the plan is to test Monday nights in the racing calendar. There are typically fewer tracks offered on Monday nights which presents some opportunity to stand out even further in the simulcast market.
Summerside will now offer racing on select Monday nights in the final months of the 2021 meet. There will be 5 dates in total, namely September 13, 30, 27 and October 18 and 25. Customers can play at the track or from home through HPIBET.COM and the Race Day broadcast.
“We started the year with some plans to test a few things with Summerside and we are thrilled with the results so far,” said Lee Drake, Manager of Racing and Broadcast. “Our goal is to continually find ways to grow wagering and provide even greater value to our players. This approach will directly support our purses and the overall wagering program. We are very thankful for the support of our fans and horsepeople throughout this journey.”
The Summerside meet will continue through Monday October 25. Red Shores Charlottetown will continue throughout the remainder of the year and will be host to the Atlantic Breeder’s Crown consolations and finals on October 9 and 10.
