SUMMERSIDE, PE – Euchred capped off David Dowling’s dominate day in Invitational action Sunday afternoon at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Sent to the lead from the start in the $3,500 Invitational pace, Euchred felt no serious challenges through splits of 27.2, 56.1 and 1:24.4 before putting the finishes touches on a 1:54 victory.
Sent off by the wagering public as third choice, Euchred defeated Czar Seelster (Driven by Kenny Arsenault) at the wire while race favourite Rose Run Quest (Marc Campbell) was third.
Euchred is trained by Terry Gallant for owner Kayla Habicht Walker of Inverness, N.S.
Dowling had a total of five wins on the Sunday program including the $2,200 back-up class with Cartoon Daddy in 1:56.2 for train Rachel Andrew of Milton. Dowling also teamed up with trainer Gallant to win with Young Man Matt in 1:58.1, while his other wins came with Twice As Bright in 1:58.2 for Elton Millar of Tyne Valley and the still undefeated two-year-old After The Lovin with a 2:01 score for conditioner Earl Watts of Hampshire.
Watts had two wins on the card as Better Than Tonys opened up the day with a maiden breaking score for driver Corey MacPherson and owner Daniel Ross of Belfast.
