SUMMERSIDE, PE – Moonwriter was aggressive from the start in the Sunday afternoon harness racing feature and cruised to victory at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
David Dowling sent the Colin Johnson trainee to the lead in the $3,100 featured pace and cut out panels of 28.2, 57.2 and 1:26.3 on his way to a 1:55.1 score.
Debbie Element of Village Green holds the ownership papers of the nine-year-old son of Sportswriter.
Flash In The Pang (Driven by Brodie MacPhee) finished second in that preferred pace with Pictonian Storm (Corey MacPherson) third.
Dowling had three winners on the day as he also won the back-up class of the afternoon with Shadow Of A Daut in 1:57.3 for the pacer’s third straight win for trainer Earl Watts.
Dowling’s other victory came in upset fashion at 32-1 odds in race 2 with Magical Lily Bear in 1:59.4 for trainer Ron Gass.
Adam Merner had the hot hands on the day with four trips to the winner’s circle. WC Marys Buddy (2:00.4) won race 1 for Merner and trainer Don Sweet followed by Positive Art (1:59.4) in race 4 from the Bing Easter stable. La Vie En Rose (1:58.2) was a winner in race 5 with the Charlottetown driver aboard for trainer Glen MacKay Jr., and Uncle Bill (1:58.2) completed the Merner quadruple in race 8 for trainer Marc Campbell.
Jaycob Sweet recorded a driving double on the program.
