SUMMERSIDE, PE – One of the finest Invitational pacers on the Eastern Seaboard of Canada will head to Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway for the closing day of the 2023 harness racing season on Sunday (Oct. 29) afternoon.
The 14-dash card starts off at 1 P.M. with cooler presentations in every event.
Rollwithhottytoddy (Rollwithitharry) is the top selection in the $3,500 featured pace with Adam Merner picking up the catch drive for owner-trainer Trevor Hicken. The four-year-old has handled the transition to aged company with grace, winning four races this year including a 1:52.3 career best earlier in the season at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Rail control in the feature goes to New Brunswick invader Frontier Cruise with Brady Sweet in the irons for trainer Jean Belliveau. The Sunshine Beach six-year-old has been sold all season long with seven wins and eight thirds but just one win from 23 starts while usually facing the Red Shores Summerside feature every week.
Sauble Attack (To be driven by Brodie MacPhee) gets post 2 after beating this class last week for trainer Paul Biggar. Also in the field are Middleton Terror (David Dowling) and Woodmere Ideal Art (Kyle Mason).
The Backstretch Beat is going with Rollwithhottytoddy.
“Rollwithhottytoddy has been facing the finest pacers on Canada’s Eastern Seaboard and more than holding his own. There is no question this is his race to lose.”
The final dash of the season has JJ Patrick riding a two-race win streak into the event with post 6 for trainer Ricky Armstrong and owner Marc Gallant of Summerisde. Jaycob Sweet gets the catch driving assignment as regular pilot Corey MacPherson is competing in stakes action in Nova Scotia on the afternoon. His top foes are slated as Almost There Boss (Dowling) and Impeccable Shadow (Merner).
The afternoon program will also feature second chance draws for customers, Wild Horses tags at $50 per race, prize draws and special presentations from Prince County Horsemen’s Club and Red Shores Summerside.
