Plain Jane one to beat at Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With the rail to her advantage, Plain Jane (Shadow Play) takes on a solid crew of harness racing pacing mares in the Thursday evening (Oct. 26) finale at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. 

The capital oval has an 11-dash presentation starting at 6 P.M. Thursday evening with the finale hosting a $3,000 Fillies and Mares pacing dash. 

Plain Jane controls the pylons from post 1 in that event with Marc Campbell in the driver’s seat for trainer Brent Campbell and owners Leigh and Faith Gavin of Sea Cow Pond. The five-year-old has been razor sharp again in 2023 with nine wins and $21,554 earned from 22 starts. Redlandbethanyjean will look for revenge from last week when she went down to defeat by the hooves of Better Be In Love and Elm Grove Mistress. Brodie MacPhee drives Redlandbethanyjean from post 2 on Thursday while sporting a perfect top-three record in her last six starts. Better Be In Love, last week’s winner, has post 7 this week with Corey MacPherson aboard while Elm Grove Mistress (To be driven by Jason Hughes) has post 4. Also in the finale field are You Aint Dolly (Kenny Arsenault), Ubettimagoodone (Gilles Barrieau) and Ms Moyse (Adam Merner).

Race 10 is the $3,100 Open Trot featuring freshly minted Island Oceans Trot Champion Jessiejesorjessica the top selection from post 5 for driver David Dowling, trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. Her main competitors are listed as New Legacy (Marc Campbell) from post 1 and fellow Doyle trainee Glider Man (Hughes) with post 4.
