CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The top harness racing pacing mares on the Eastern Seaboard of Canada will reignite their rivalry in the Thursday evening (June 27) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash card begins at 6 P.M. with last week’s winner, Rosetown Mary, absent from the proceedings in the race 12 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace for a $3,700 purse. The runner-up that day was Pasta Momma, who gets the call as the morning line favourite this week from post 5 for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Landon Campbell and owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod and Brady Doyle. Trainer Campbell also sends out Plain Jane from post 2 in line to Brady Sweet.
Redlandbethanyjean (To be driven by Brodie MacPhee) is second choice from post 6 for trainer Tom Weatherbie after winning her latest in 1:55.4. Sugar Bowl (Mark Bradley) was second in her qualifier to free-for-all pacer Bee Two Bee while race timed in 1:56.4. She has rail control from the Ashley Gamester barn in this dash. The other Gamester entry is post 3 starter Acefortyfour Dome (Ken Murphy) with post 3.
Also, in the field are Share The Moment (Gilles Barrieau) and Tobins Brownie (David Dowling).
The Post Time Picks are going with Pasta Momma on top.
“Pasta Momma was sent to the point and raced great just getting nipped in deep stretch. We’re thinking Campbell will be pushing the pace again and if that’s how it plays out, she could be smiling for the camera.”
Race 10 is the $3,300 Open Trot with Irish Ray (Muscle Through It) and driver Marc Campbell are the top selection from post 2 for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Fred MacDonald of Kingston. The four-year-old has four rivals including the Kyle Desroche trained Windmeredontuworry (Corey MacPherson), who beat this class last week and has post 1 on Thursday. The other three entries all come from the Jennifer Doyle barn with New Legacy (Murphy), Glider Man (Myles Heffernan Sr.) and Jessiejesorjessica (David Dowling).
