CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The finest harness racing pacing mares on Canada’s Eastern Seaboard meet again for the Thursday evening (Aug. 21) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 13-dash presentation starting at 6 P.M. featuring the Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace in race 12 for a $3,700 purse.
The Ashley Gamester stable unloaded a 1-2 punch in the $15,000 Birthplace Of Confederation Mares Series on Gold Cup and Saucer night and now those entries will compete again Thursday.
The Gamester trained Sugar Bowl (Sweet Lou) with driver Gilles Barrieau) was victorious that night for owners Tommy Collings and Brian MacPhee of Mount Stewart and now draws post 7 on Thursday as the morning line favourite. Acefortyfour Dome (Up The Credit) with driver Jason Hughes is another stablemate leaving from post 3 and will look to improve on her second-place finish from that night.
Pasta Momma has post 4 after a third-place finish in the Birthplace Of Confederation final and will have the hot hands of Marc Campbell in the seat after the Orwell driver secured the Francis McIsaac Memorial Award last week for top driver of Old Home Week with 28 wins over 10-programs.
The Post Time Picks like Acefortyfour Dome to win.
“Acefortyfour Dome was flying late on Saturday night and finished a rock solid second to Sugar Bowl. We’re wagering Hughes will be aggressive off the switch and if that’s the case she could go one better this time.”
The program also features a pair of $3,200 Allstar Cresting Prospect Trot legs in races 3 and 6.
Chelski is the early favourite in the race 5 D & G Younker Memorial from post 3 with Damian MacLellan in the seat for trainer Jennifer Doyle.
Race 13 is the Mr K’s Knights Pace with Skip Across (Hughes) the top choice from post 7 for trainer Stanley Harper.
