CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Osprey Delta makes a barn change this week and will look for the top prize in the Thursday evening Open Trot at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 11-dash Thursday card has a 6 P.M. opening post time with the $2,700 Open Trot taking to the track in race 6. Walter Cheverie gets the catch driving call on morning line favourite Osprey Delta in that race from post 2 for owner-trainer Paul Larrabee of South Pinette.
The daughter of Tad The Stud had been racing from the Jeff Holmes stable all summer with her last start a fifth place finish at the Open level.
The winner that day was Daisy River, who has post 3 Thursday for driver Jason Hughes and trainer William Lanigan. Daisy River made a break her last outing in the first turn and rallied to finish fourth.
Perennial top trotter Freddie gets rail control in the class for trainer-driver Marc Campbell as the nine-year-old looks for his 73rd lifetime win.
The Post Time Picks see Peter MacPhee place Daisy River on top. “Daisy River made a rare break last time out and couldn’t deliver as the chalk choice. Draws post three and we’re thinking Jason will want to call the shots right from the word go so expect a big-time bounce back.”
Also in the Open Trot field are Sailor Blue (To be driven by Ken Murphy), Glider Man (Adam Merner) and Go With Her (Brodie MacPhee).
The $2,600 top pace of the evening is in race 10 with Pacific Delight the top choice from post 2 for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Ron Matheson and owners Eldred Nicholson, James Gorman, Quentin Bevan and Bobbi Jo Matheson.
Other top entrants are Filly Forty Seven (Campbell) and Better Be In Love (MacPhee). Catch all the action live at the track or tune into the Race Day broadcast at Redshores.ca. Live streaming is also available at the Red Shores Youtube page and online wagering can be found at HPIBet.com.
