CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Daisy River was the boss in the Thursday evening Open Trot at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as part of a four-win performance by harness racing driver Jason Hughes.
Hustled to the lead in the $2,700 Open Trot, Daisy River cruised through splits of 28.1, 58.1 and 1:29.1 before closing out in 1:58.1 over a wet track rated one second off.
Hughes was in the race bike behind the William Lanigan owned and trained daughter of Nikes Image for her ninth win of the season. Glider Man (Driven by Adam Merner) was second ahead of Freddie (Marc Campbell).

Hughes scored wins in his first three drives of the night as he opened up the action with Somebodys Me (1:58.1) from the Oakes stable of Warren Grove, followed by Girl In A Tavern (1:58.1) from his own stable then Daisy River in race 6. His fourth win came aboard Traces Of Purple (1:59.2) in race 8 for trainer Robert Phillips.
Filly Forty Seven won the $2,600 Fillies and Mares preferred pace in 1:55.2 for trainer-driver Campbell.
The evening finale saw a colossal upset with Good Luck Kathy (Brodie MacPhee) lighting up the tote board to win at 27-1 odds for trainer Earl Smith.
