CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The passing lane was all it took for Ladylike to deliver as the betting favourite in the Thursday evening harness racing feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Gilles Barrieau was in the bike behind the Colin Johnson trained Ladylike in the $3,200 Fillies and Mares preferred pace as they guarded the rail to sit second at the onset of the evening finale.
Tobins Brownie (Driven by David Dowling) was hustled to the lead from post 2 and got everything her own way with fractions of 29.4, 1:01 and 1:29.4 but found herself under siege in the final panel of the race by the first-over Dreamfair Zenfire (Marc Campbell).
The stretch drive told the tale as Ladylike came up the inside to deliver a neck victory in 1:57.4 while Dreamfair Zenfire surged forward to finish second and Tobins Brownie settled for third. Debbie Element of Village Green holds the ownership papers of Ladylike.
