CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The finest pacing mares on the Eastern Seaboard of Canada will hook up again Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Capital oval will host a 13-dash program starting off at 6 P.M. featuring the Fillies and Mares preferred pace in race 12.
The featured dash will carry a $3,100 purse with Woodmere Skyroller forced to contend with the outside post 6 after winning the most recent event in a snappy 1:54.3. The stone-cold closing daughter of Rollwithitharry will retain the services of driver Corey MacPherson for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.
MacPherson has steered the former Atlantic Champion filly to wins in her last two outings.
The Marc Campbell stable has the inside advantage in the dash as Arc Light leaves off the rail with Jason Hughes picking up the catch drive of the 23-time winning daughter of Camystic for Crossroads Racing Stable of Stratford. Campbell elects to drive post 2 starter Dreamfair Zenfire as he she looks for her 25th lifetime victory.
Larjon Legacy will leave from post 3 with Gilles Barrieau in the race bike for trainer Bo Ford after finishing third in this class her last start. Gonna Fool Ya has post 4 for trainer-driver David Dowling while CDP track record holder Ladylike has post 5 with Colin Johnson placing the lines in the hands of veteran driver Walter Cheverie.
Peter MacPhee will take a slight upset angle in placing Larjon Legacy in the win position of his Post Time Picks.
“Larjon Legacy has been racing well all season long and fired home in a snappy 27.3 last out. She also gets an excellent spot to work from and with Barrieau at the controls it could finally be picture time.”
The $2,700 Open trot will line up in race 7 with the newly minted track record holder, Cheeky Little Minx, the favourite from post 5 with trainer-driver Barrieau for owners Wayne MacRae of Nova Scotia and Howmac Farms Ltd., of North Wiltshire.
She will face off with Labero (To be driven by Dowling), Freddie (Campbell), Glider Man (Hughes) and Majian Tango (Jim Ripley).
