CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With post 1 in her corner, Jessiejesorjessica (Justice Hall) will aim to get it all in the Thursday (June 1) evening harness racing trotting feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The city track has 12-dashes scheduled for a 6 P.M. opening post time.
The $3,100 Open Trot hits the track in race 10 with last year’s Island Oceans Trot Series winner Jessiejesorjessica in line to Gilles Barrieau off the rail for co-owner and trainer Jennifer Doyle for co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe.
The seven-year-old just missed by half-a-length in last week’s Open Trot that featured a dead heat for win. One winner that day was New Legacy, who has post 5 this week as the morning line favourite for driver Adam Merner and trainer Colin Johnson. The other dead heated winner was this week’s Post 6 entry Sailor Blue (To be driven by Ken Murphy).
Also in the field are Dealin Magic (David Dowling), Labero (Corey MacPherson) and Hallofaride (Jason Hughes).Ā The Post Time Picks place Jessiejesorjessica on top.
“We went with her last and she raced great just missing in a blanket finish. She’s back in the same spot and is going to get a favourable trip so we’re putting her on top of the ticket.”
The evening finale in race 12 has Sports Icon as the top selection from post 3 in the $2,500 event for owner, trainer and driver Patrick Shepherd, who just had his first driving victory since coming back to P.E.I., in stakes action in Summerside.
Shepherd claimed the eight-year-old Sportswriter mare for $9,600 on May 25 when Brett Leblanc guided her to victory and defeated Tobins Brownie. Other top entries in the Thursday finale include Tobins Brownie (Dowling) from post 5 and Countercurrency (Hughes) with post 4.
