CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Maritimes' fastest mare will look to continue her perfect streak Thursday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. First race post time is 7 pm for the 12-dash harness racing event.
The top mares on the East Coast will battle in the Fillies and Mares Open pace in race 7 on the card with Maritime Champion Ramblinglily leaving from post 3 in the six-horse event for a $2,200 purse. Walter Cheverie will drive Ramblinglily as she rides a four-race win streak that is part of her eight win season from just 10 starts. The five-year-old daughter of Articulator is co-owned and trained by Alan Jones of Riverview and co-owned by Normand Leger of Shediac, N.B. Her main rivals will be to the inside with For All We Know (Gilles Barrieau) with the rail and Fleurje (Mark Bradley) leaving from post 2.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac gives the nod for Ramblinglily to continue her unbeaten streak.
"Other than that start at Truro with broken equipment and that narrow loss at Summerside, it's been nothing but wins," MacIsaac said of Ramblinglily. "Be prepared for another one."
Other entries include Brodys Leona (Corey MacPherson), Bunny Mach (Gary Chappell) and Stayoutofmyaffair (Jason Hughes).
A hard-hitting field of seven lines up in race 11 on the card for a $2,200 purse with The Big Bite favoured from post 5 for driver Mike Stevenson, trainer Thane Arsenault and owners Jack Arsenault of Charlottetown, Donna McIver of York, Edward Blaisdell of Montague and Deborah Wilson of Nova Scotia. The six-year-old son of Shark Gesture does not have an easy road ahead of him as he faces off with post 6 starter Forever Paradise (Barrieau) and Waterside Light (Kenny Arsenault) with rail control. Other entries include Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton), Perfect Escape (Brian MacPhee), McJestic (Marc Campbell) and Cambest Kisser (Hughes).
A group of eight trotters will battle in race 3 on the card with Diamond Mine the morning line favourite from post 5 with Willie Murphy in the bike for co-owner and trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague and co-owner Tanya MacKinnon of Souris. The group also contains Kims Pjs (Lenny Myers) and Howmacs Pride (Arsenault).
