CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Fern Hill General took on all comers and repelled them as he continued his perfect harness racing season Wednesday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Earl Smith trained two-year-old son of Malicious won his fifth straight for owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrissey as Brodie MacPhee guided him to a 1:56.2 front-end triumph in a $15,760 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division. Second went to St Charlesfireball (Driven by Marc Campbell) while Soul Assassin (David Dowling) was third.
Fern Hill Gusto prevailed in the other A-split in line to trainer Campbell for owner Grayland Farm of Nova Scotia. Time of the mile was 1:57.2 as Check Your Source (Mike McGuigan) rallied for second while Rollwithhottytoddy (Gilles Barrieau) was third.
MacPhee and Smith also teamed up in a $3,000 B-division for pacing colt behind J J Xavier in 1:58.3. The other B-divisions went to J J Maximus (Driven by Mark Bradley) in 1:59.3 and Howmac Maximus (Barrieau) in 1:58.4.
