CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The most dominant free-for-aller in the history of Atlantic Canadian Harness Racing returns to action Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 15-dash Saturday presentation kicks off at 12:30 P.M., with the $3,400 preferred pace headlining the action in race 14.
Time To Dance is back for the feature as the Marc Campbell trained and driven son of A Rocknroll Dance is assigned post 5 for owner Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Matt McDonald of Ontario. Time To Dance has found the winner’s circle 12 out of 16 starts in 2021 including wins in his last six races.
Bugsy Maguire has the inside in the field as Dale Spence drives the Wade Sorrie trainee from post 1. Fresh off a second-place finish to Dreamfair Zenfire in last week’s preferred, Bugsy Maguire will look to add to his 18 top-three finishes this season.
Also in the field are Cowboy Logic (To be driven by Steven Shepherd), Mc Pat (Adam Merner) and Moonwriter (David Dowling).
Peter MacPhee places Time To Dance on top of his Post Time Picks Saturday.
“Time To Dance has had another incredible season and the last time we saw him was winning the Johnny Conroy in Truro. He’s back at his home track and has the hottest driver in the Maritimes so that adds up to win number 13 on the season.”
The card also has $5,000 divisions of the P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry Association Fall Challenge Series in races 3, 6 and 9 as well as P.E.I.H.R.I.A. Autumn Series divisions in races 2 and 4. Both series are for four-year-old and younger non-winners pacers.
Race 7 has the $2,700 Open Trot with Freddie the morning line favourite for trainer-driver Campbell and owner Three Wiseman Stable of Kingston.
Filly Forty Seven is the top choice in the race 12 Fillies and Mares Preferred pace for a $3,100 pot. Campbell trains and drives that daughter of Proven Lover for owners Alan MacDonald, Cory Carver and Katelyn Smallwood.
Screen Test Looks To Be Boss Sunday
CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Screen Test takes a dip in class and will look to return to the winner’s circle in the Sunday afternoon top event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The city track will host 13-dashes on Sunday afternoon starting at 12:30 P.M., with the preferred 2 pace lining up in race 12.
Screen Test is the top choice in that $3,050 event from post 2 with Corey MacPherson back in the seat for trainer Ron Gass and owners Kickin Horse Stable of York and William Andrew of Alberta. An 8-time winner in 2021, Screen Test was fifth his last start while pacing in 1:55 at the preferred 1 level. His last win was Oct. 25 at this same level in 1:54 at Red Shores Summerside.
Hunger Pangs holds down post 3 with Marc Campbell in the driver’s seat for trainer Blaine McKenna fresh off a 1:54.2 win his last start in Charlottetown.
Former Governor’s Plate Champion Rose Run Quest has post 4 in the field after winning his last race in 1:55.2. Rookie pilot Brady Sweet will drive the veteran son of If I Can Dream from the Jeff Holmes barn. Also in the race are Theycallmedude (To be driven by Adam Merner) and Chocolate Swirl (Ken Murphy).
The Post Time Picks in Sunday’s program have Screen Test heavily favoured to win the feature.
“Screen Test is the class of the field and the second he sets down on the lead we don’t see a path around him. This is his race to lose.”
Driver Sweet and trainer Holmes are favoured to win the $2,800 back-up pace in race 10 as Burn Out Hanover has rail control for owner Orwell Bay Stable. A son of Well Said and multi-millionaire pacing mare Burning Point, Burn Out Hanover has visited the winner’s circle six times in 2021 including a 1:53.2 romp with Sweet in the bike. Other top entries are Spack Jarrow (MacPherson) and Raise You Twenty (Campbell).
