After three straight starts of finishing off the board, Better Be Donna N returned to her harness racing winning ways at Woodbine Mohawk Park Friday evening.
Starting from post six in the ninth race $28,000 mares pace feature, driver James MacDonald made sure he had Better Be Donna N on the move as they left like a rocket at the start.
With Dream Dancing (Louis-Philippe Roy) also leaving from post seven and getting the two-hole tuck, Better Be Donna N led the field to the first quarter in n mild :28.4.
Then through the half mile in :57.3, it was all Better Be Donna N as the race favorite, Dabarndawgswatchin and driver Jody Jamieson started up first-over with Majestic Virgin (Jonathan Drury) picking up the second-over cover.
At the three-quarters in 1:25.3, Better Be Donna was still in command as Dabarndawgswatchin kept gaining ground on the lead.
As the field came to the wire, Better Be Donna N still had some left in the tank and went on to win by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:52.4. Dabarndawgswatchin held for second with Majestic Virgin third.

It was the fourth win in just eight starts this year for Better Be Donna N. The eight-year-old New Zealand bred mare by Betterthancheddar is trained by Carmen Auciello for owner Stephen Klunowski of North York, Ontario. She paid $10.00 to win.
For driver James MacDonald, the victory was his sixth of the evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Carmen Auciello had a training triple on the card.
