Trois-Rivieres, QC – This Sunday (Oct. 16), the Hippodrome 3R will have three co-feature harness racing events on the 11-race program. One of those races, the 6th race pace for fillies and mares, has three return winners in the field.
The race favorite is Café Society (Betterthancheddar) from post six and will have H3R’s leading driver, Pascal Berube, in the sulky.
Berube has a chance this season to do what no driver has ever done at H3R and that is winning 100 races during the H3R meet. He currently has 88 wins, just 12 away from 100. There are four race days left in the H3R meet and with Berube averaging three wins per card, the 100-win plateau is within his reach.
Meanwhile, Berube will drive Café Society, who last start was a super impressive five and one-quarter length romp at H3R in 1:57.2. She is trained by Sylvain Tremblay, H3R’s leading trainer.
In post five is Aarhythmogenic, who last week benefited from being driven by Pascal Berube and wiring the field in 1:57.4 for owner-trainer Daniel St Pierre. This week Pierre will be driving.
The third return winner is Shemakesmefelunreal (post 4) for driver Kiwon Waldron. Owned and trained by Michel Allard, last week Shemakesmefelunreal wired the field in 1:59.4 for her sixth win of the year. She has won four of her last six starts.
The co-feature trot in the 4th race is headlined by two-time Quebec Champion Royalty Beer (Royalty For Life) who goes from post 6 for driver Kevin Maguire.
In his last start Royalty Beer traveled to Ontario where he was 7th in a $102,200 Gold division of the Ontario Sire Stakes at The Raceway. The homebred is trained and co-owned by Jean-Francois Maguire.
Royalty Beer faces two return winners in the field. They are Morally Flexible (post 5) for driver Stephane Brosseau and Dart Guy (post 2) for driver Robert Shepherd.
The third co-feature is the 11th race pace with a full field of nine starters. The ten-year-old warhorse Maracasso (post 7) is the lone return winner in the field, coming off an impressive score for driver Jonathan Lachance. Other standouts include Spectrum Seelster (post 2) for driver Pascal Berube and Saskabush Steve (post 6) for driver Jocelyn Gendron.
