Harness racing driver Michel Rey and trainer Richard Rey teamed up to win four of the days eight races at The Loop on Saturday (Aug. 24).

The father-son duo swept the opening three races. Michel, the junior, steered Braxtons Boy (Whosurboy) to victory in the opener. The gelding kicked out of the pocket coming down the backstretch and battled by One Last Bet (Dean Rey) to score in 2:01.4. Richard Rey co-owns and co-bred the winner, a four-year-old, with Janet Rey.

Reys Ur Glass (Whosurboy) broke his maiden for the Reys in the second. He took command nearing the half and extended his lead to three lengths in the stretch in a 2:08.1 victory. Richard Rey trains and bred the sophomore colt who debuted this year. Is He Watching (He’s Watching) gave the team a triple in race three as she cut the mile in a 2:02.4, length-and-a-half win for owner Laverne Turnbull.

Armycaptin Hanover (Captaintreacherous) completed the Rey grand slam for in the featured Open Pace. He battled to the front in the third quarter, overpowered the leader going into the final turn, and cruised home to a five-length score in 1:59.1. It was his 11th win of the year and his fifth in seven starts since moving to Manitoba and the Richard Rey barn. Turnbull owns the eight-year-old gelding.
