Ripped And Ready (Muscle Mass) atoned for coming up short last week with a decisive victory in the Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (May 26).
Pascal Berube called for speed from post six and urged the stallion on as they swung three-wide into the first turn. Ripped And Ready continued to climb past rivals and crossed over into the top spot as they passed the quarter in :27.2. Berube then gave his charge a breather to the half in :57.2 before increasing speed to deal with challenger Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd) approaching three-quarters in 1:25.3.
Ripped And Ready responded by streaking away into the final turn and cruising home victorious by three lengths in a lifetime-best 1:54.4. Gloire Dream (Samuel Fillion) narrowly got up for second over Seeyou Men (Guy Gagnon), who denied Ripped and Ready by a head in the previous week’s Preferred Handicap.
The win price was $4.40.
