CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Superb for every step of the mile, there was no stopping Rocket Blast (EL Rocket) as he trotted to harness racing victory in his P.E.I. Colt Stakes division on Thursday evening (Sept. 7) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Corey MacPherson supplied the steer on the Carl Bagnall owned and trained Rocket Blast as he front-strided a 2:02 mile in his $12,200 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trotting colt dash for his third straight win. Countyline Babe (Driven by Myles Heffernan Sr.) closed for second ahead of Howmac Swanky (Mike McGuigan).
ROCKET BLAST REPLAY
Camco Erin won her $11,570 P.E.I. Colt Stakes three-year-old trot filly division with a 2:03.4 victory for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan and owner Blue Diamond Racing of Emyvale. Dusty Lane Kalani (Jason Hughes) was second ahead of Mile Hill Aggie (MacPherson).
CAMCO ERIN REPLAY
The three-year-old trot colt race saw Dynamical Tad (Kenny Arsenault) best his rivals in 2:01 in the $11,670 contest over Oceanview Chip (Ken Murphy) and Windemeregotmuscle (Hughes). Vaughan Doyle trains the winning trotter for owners Bill Kinney and Gary Ford.
DYNAMICAL TAD REPLAY
The Lenny Myers trained Dusty Lane Wee landed on top in the $12,200 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trot filly division with a 2:03.1 score with David Dowling in the driver’s seat for owners Garry MacDonald and Ronnie Gass. Pay Me My Money (Arsenault) grabbed second while Cardigan Cutie (MacPherson) was on the bottom of a $809.90 triactor ticket that was beefed up largely due to a break in stride by heavily favoured Oceanview Daisy (Murphy).
DUSTY LANE WEE REPLAY
Jennifer Doyle had a training triple on the night winning with Ladylike (Hughes) in 1:55.4 in race 5, Glider Man (Heffernan) in 1:58.4 in race 10 and Java (Dowling) with a 1:58.1 clocking in race 11.
Live racing continues Saturday with a P.E.I. Colt Stakes doubleheader at Red Shores Charlottetown. The afternoon 14-dash card starts off at 12 P.M. while the evening program has 16-races with a 6 P.M. start time.
