Msfrannie (Southwind Frank) scored her fifth victory of her debut season in a 15-1 upset as she returned to Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Dec. 14).
The filly, in rein to Sylvain Filion sat in the three-hole until tipping out when entering the far turn to pursue Whizzer Wallee (Todd Ratchford), who had regained the lead after Fashion Prsidente (Doug McNair) broke. Msfrannie struck the front at three-quarters and streaked four lengths clear coming down the stretch. Collector S (Chris Christoforou) and Prince Archie (Steve Hudon) battled for second and reduced her gap to two-and three-quarter lengths, but Msfrannie cruised home for a 1:57.2 victory. The latter two dead-heated for place.
MSFRANNIE REPLAY
Msfrannie is five-for-14 this season. She has shifted locale three times: she debuted at Harrahās Hoosier Park in July, then moved to The Meadows for Justin Lloyd in August, and she has resided in Ontario since November. Richard Moreau now trains the three-year-old, an earner of $38,175, for Michael and Sam Sergi of Canton. The 1:57.2 time lowered her speed badge by three fifths.
Filion and fellow drivers Louis-Philippe Roy and Travis Cullen each bagged three wins on the night.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will continue racing on Friday, Dec. 15. The 12-race card, beginning at 7:10 p.m. EST, will feature the second leg of the Niagara Series for three-year-old pacing fillies.
