Rooney builds on hot start

Garrett Rooney added another four victories to his 2023 tally with a grand slam harness racing driving performance on Wednesday (Jan. 11) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

The reinsman teamed Inkslinger (Sportswriter, 2:00), Thedoginthefight (Sweet Lou, 1:59), Southern Memories (Roll With Joe, 1:59.4), and Go Mud (Ambro Deuce, 1:59.4) to wins on the 10-race card.

He is currently clicking at a 35.3 per cent race in 34 starts so far this season and tops the London standings with 12 wins. Tyler Borth is just behind with 10.

Rooney’s 2022 was his best year to date. He brought home 212 winners, 73 more than his previous best, and made more than 1,000 starts for the first time. He also had his first season with more than $1 million earned.

The Raceway at the Western Fair District will be back on Friday, Jan. 13 at 4:50 p.m. EST.
