Rotten Ronnie (Malicious) resumed his Winners-Over winning streak as he left stakes competition and returned to the top harness racing class at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday (Aug. 3).
Driver Redmond Doucet, looking to complete a triple, hurried the four-year-old wide into the first turn to sweep to the lead. He attained control before hitting the quarter in :29.1 and sailed to the half in :56.2.
The stallion edged away to a three-length advantage by three-quarters in 1:27.2, and finished the mile two-and-a-quarter lengths up with little worry in 1:55.4.
Rockemsockem Scott (John Kennedy) finished second. Dam Lucky (Ambrose Gillis) eclipsed Thunder Alley (Rodney Gillis) late for show.
ROTTEN RONNIE REPLAY
Rotten Ronnie, who was sent off at 1/5, is now 13-for-34 lifetime with $74,142 in earnings. The Lennan Macisaac trainee began the season in June with a pair of Winners-Over victories at Inverness and won the Cecil Ladner Memorial at Charlottetown. He then finished fourth and third in his Governorās Plate elimination and the final, respectively, before returning to Inverness on Wednesday. Doucet co-owns the stallion with Andy Stewart; both are Inverness locals.
Inverness Raceway continues live action on Wednsay, Aug. 10 at 7:00 p.m. ADT. The card will include the Atlantic Sires Stakes third leg for two-year old pacing colts and two-year-old pacing fillies.
